The City of Colton is searching for a highly motivated, reliable, and skilled individual to join the Colton Police Department for the newly created position of Crime Analyst! This position will play a vital role in successfully providing analytical assistance to the department relating to crime trends and “hot spots”. The position will be open until filled so apply ASAP.
DESCRIPTION:
Under general supervision, is assigned to perform analytical support, research and data collection in support of community policing and crime prevention; perform crime analysis of data collected; directs the collection and analysis of crime data, provides technical support for the operation of various computer systems, including software programs specific to the police department; and perform other related duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The Crime Analyst is a journey level, non-sworn position class responsible for crime prevention, maintaining up-to-date statistics related to crime trends, “hot spots” for the overall effort to improve processes in preventing and reducing crime, and assisting with investigations.
